Definitive Technology Demand Series D15 Floorstanding Speaker
. It features dual side-mounted 8" passive radiators to augment the bass coming from the dual 5.25" carbon fiber BDSS mid-woofers. A 5.25" polypropylene midrange driver and a 1" aluminum dome tweeter round out the speaker's driver complement. The tweeter is laterally offset to the left to minimize symmetric diffraction off the corners of the front baffle; this makes it designed for use as a left-channel speaker. The tweeter also features a 20/20 Wave Alignment Lens to help enhance dispersion.
The D15 accepts 50 to 300W of power from your amplifier via its binding post inputs. Dual binding post pairs make the speaker suitable for bi-wiring and bi-amping. Carpet spikes and hard floor guides are included, as well as an acoustically transparent speaker grille and a cleaning cloth.
Wave Alignment Lens and Laterally Offset Tweeter Assembly
Aluminum tweeters are used due to their stiff, lightweight nature. They undergo an annealing process to shape and soften the material in order to dampen excess vibration. The 20/20 Wave Alignment Lens helps smooth high frequencies off the tweeter for enhanced dispersion and balanced listening nearly anywhere in your room. Further, the tweeter is offset to deliver a more precise center stereo image and minimize undesirable symmetric diffraction off the corners of the front baffle.
BDSS Mid-Woofer
The Balanced Double Surround System mid-woofer helps provide greater linear excursion and output for augmented midrange detail.
Linear Response Waveguide
The Linear Response Waveguide is engineered to extend both on- and off-axis frequency response and improve dispersion for more natural midrange timbre and more precise imaging.
Carbon Fiber Woofers
Carbon fiber offers enhanced rigidity to the cone for deeper bass notes while minimizing cone distortion that can occur with other, less rigid materials. Carbon fiber is a strong but lightweight material, making it well suited for sound reproduction. It helps the woofers handle higher excursion without deforming, providing deep, clean low frequency.
Extruded Aluminum Front Baffle
The aluminum front baffle has a bead-blasted finish designed to fit nearly any dÃĐcor.
Hi-Fi Crossover
The crossover integrates polypropylene metal-film capacitors and air-core inductors designed to deliver low distortion and high clarity for the tweeter circuitry and signal linearity for the low frequency reproduction, without compromising the midrange.
5-Layer Painted High-Gloss Cabinet
The cabinet is hand-crafted with a near-mirror finish.
Acoustically Transparent Magnetic Grille
The grille can be removed when you want to enjoy looking at the drivers uncovered, but can be left on the speaker while still enjoying natural, uncolored sound.
